The Flintstones Slot

Finally! We’ve been waiting since the stone age to actually get an official Flintstones slot machine available online. WMS have had the Flintstones land machines for what seems like forever but now, Playtech have gotten their hands on the rights to produce an online version! No more playing scarcely concealed tributes like Cave King or Stone Age, now we have the real thing to enjoy. It promises to be a big hit too with a 1024 ways to win format on offer and a bet range of 0.40 to 40.00 credits to satisfy all needs.

Barney, Wilma and Fred all serve as character hosts on this game, there’s even a surprise appearance from the Great Gazoo. Well, he did encounter the Flintstones on a number of occasions and it allows for some spectacular crossover action from the little alien. This is because he owns one of the games three free spins bonus features. That’s right – there’s three of them! Not only that but there are two other bonus features too, including one where Fred gets to showcase his incredible, if strange bowling skills.

We are of course, assuming you are familiar with the Flintstones. Whilst the animated series only originally ran for a few years in the 60’s it’s been re-imagined many times since with a number of one of productions, films and even a tribute song in the form of the B52’s 1994 chart topper "(Meet) The Flintstones"!

Theme & Icons

The game takes place in the Flintstones home town of Bedrock. The 5x3 reel grid is laid out in a wooden frame watched over by one of the pre-historic birds from the cartoon. You won’t be astonished to hear that the game is absolutely packed full of iconic imagery, cute sound bites and bespoke animations. Cartoon themed slots are always fun, one based on such a popular TV cartoon is an absolute winner. We could hardly draw ourselves away to write about it as we tried to trigger each and every win sequence and animation the game had to offer.

As the head of the household Fred holds the biggest symbol reward with 400x on offer. Barney comes in a close second with x200 and you get x100 and x80 for Wilma and Betty respectively. Dino of course, steals the show, not only is he stacked wild but line up him up five in a row for a massive x1000. That pesky Dino is always stealing Fred’s limelight! He may be after more than that, as a rack of Fred’s favourite ribs round out the bottom of the high paying icons with a max win of x60, just below the shell phone which has x70 for five incoming calls. If this wasn’t enough for you there is also and A-J set of playing card icons from x40-x45 in value for a full 5 set.

Gameplay & Features

Whilst the entertainment on the game will definitely keep you occupied, the big money comes courtesy of the five different bonus features. Our pick is the Bedrock bowling bonus. This occurs with three bowling bonus scatters and is basically a pick win feature. It’s so well animated though that you hardly note how simple it is. Choose Fred’s Bowling style and let him rip down the lanes, there’s a random cash prize with a multiplier attached for however many pins you managed to knock down. A strike gets you a free throw and if you score a successive strike you get yet another with an additional multiplier.

Next up in the feature list is The Flintstones rocky ride. Fred and Barney can roll in at any time in their car made of stone, wood, and animal skins, and powered by the passengers' feet (Admit it, you want one). A wheel at the top of the reels spins to reveal a win multiplier, the duo then throw mystery symbols onto the reels in a prehistoric drive by. A second wheel will determine what those symbols transform into. It can be a little hit and miss this bonus, but incredibly fun to watch.

Most players will want to hear about the three free spins bonuses. These follow something of a familiar pattern in recent land casino slots where there are three different variance levels to select. The Great Gazoo spins have the least volatility and so you get the maximum 12 spins (all have a potential re-trigger). In this game the Great Gazoo replaces Dino as a wild and randomly turns other symbols on the reels wild. Dino, for once, is behaving himself and sits in the middle ground with 10 spins. On his games he will randomly dig for bones and each one he unearths will increase your win multiplier. Wilma, unusually, is the most volatile character with just five spins. She’s vacuums up each wild which appears for the duration of the feature and on one last ultra-spin, all those wilds are placed back on the reels – this can be massive and no mistake!

Summary

Should you play it? Yes! This is an incredibly fun slot and is has some real win potential hidden away behind the popular theme, especially in the most volatile free spins round hosted by the beguiling Wilma. Right now the game is exclusive to BGO Vegas who also stock the rest of the popular Playtech titles. The only question now is if you will yabba dabba do!

Wondering what to play next? Have a look at leading provider IGT for more games with 1024 ways to win, such as the White Orchid slot, Treasures of Troy, or Crown of Egypt.
