What to do when you're stuck

Do you ever feel stuck?

You've set a goal, you take a few steps, but invariably something throws you off track or you just don't see progress in the way that you expect and hope?

Maybe you've seen this happen time and time again, either with a personal financial goal (I'm finally going to save money..,) a personal fitness goal (I'm finally going to lose those 20 pounds..,) or some other career or relationship goal.You get frustrated because you just aren't getting anywhere.

What do you do when you get stuck?  You're a pretty smart, capable individual, you believe you should be able to achieve your goals, but you still end up spinning your wheels.

Why does this happen? And how do you get past this???

I can tell you from my personal experience, having a goal and having a plan is not enough. There are so many factors that go into achieving success and making real change.

Sometimes the lack of a specific, actionable plan is the culprit of course.

But sometimes there are other factors, such as your beliefs around how you'll be perceived or how what you want will affect your relationships that stop you in your tracks.

Sometimes there are very real factors in your physical environment that are counteracting your goals, like a house or office stocked with unhealthy foods when you are trying to make smart choices.

Sometimes your brain is on board, but because of your lack of sleep, poor nutrition, or other physical factors you can't actually execute your great plan.(I can't tell you how many times I've seen the primary thing holding a client back is constant stress or sleep deprivation.)

And sometimes maybe we just don't have the brain on board as well we think we might, and limiting beliefs are causing us to self-sabotage.

The hard truth is that ALL the psychological, physical, environmental, and relationship elements of our worlds ALL have to be in alignment to truly move forward. And that could be a tough nut to crack on your own.

Every time that I've gotten truly stuck in this way, I reached out to a coach or mentor to help me breakthrough.

Outside perspective can be huge in helping you identify where you're stuck, and which of these four different areas is holding you back. Sometimes you can be aware of it on your own, but being able to attack four different areas of your world all at once can be a tall order and may not be something you can do as a solo act.

I encourage you to think today if there's a goal that you are stuck moving towards, which one (or more!) of these four areas could be holding you back? And who can you leverage in your world to help break through and get all four areas in alignment?
